I was working as a full-time graphic designer for about 9 years before leaving to take care of my kids full-time. Now I occasionally freelance as a graphic designer, but I have finally started focusing on being creative through a sketchbook habit. I realized that even though I’ve had a lot of art training, I have never actually kept a consistent sketchbook just for fun exploration of raw materials—they have always been for a class or for a specific project—and a lot of times, just brainstorming for something I’d work on later on my computer. I think I’ve let the fear of making ugly work hold me back, and now I am determined to change that!
So here I am, drawing just for fun, not letting the fear of “well, this isn’t what I had in mind…” hold me back. I am definitely going to have a lot of art I don’t like, but I am hoping to have at least something that I like about each piece or something I learned through the process. If you’re here to follow along, welcome!
